Our leadership team invests in team members, innovation, and solutions, so we can continue driving human performance outcomes for people striving toward their goals. Located all over the world, Exos leaders bring varied experiences and perspectives to our clients.
Mark Verstegen
Founder and President

One of the world’s foremost experts on performance, Mark is the founder and president of Exos. In his role he focuses on elevating performance globally, overseeing the continual Exos evolution to raise up all of the company’s clients. He’s a global keynote speaker and the author of six books and numerous research articles.

His 30 years of experience includes being the founder and president of IMG Academy’s International Performance Institute and serving as a performance and nutrition coach for Washington State University, University of Idaho, and Georgia Tech. Mark has also served as the performance director of the NFL Players Association for 22 years.

Dan Burns
Chief Executive Officer

Dan Burns returns to Exos as chief executive officer in late 2024, after serving for five years as executive chairman of our board of directors and as CEO for ten years prior to that. Dan can be described as Exos’s roots and its wings: His deep experience and history with Exos coupled with his expertise in emerging technology position him as the ideal leader for the company’s next phase of growth.

Dan also serves as a partner of Monsoon Venture Fund, general partner of the Sonoran Founders Fund, and sits on several additional business boards, as well as the Board of Trustees of the Barrow Neurological Foundation. He’s an associate faculty and advisory board member at Arizona State University's Allan "Bud" Selig Master of Sports Law and Business Program. Prior to joining Exos, he began his career in consulting at Bain & Company and then in business operations at the National Basketball Association. Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and History from Amherst College, graduating magna cum laude, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Greg Hill
Chief People Officer

With Exos since 2020, Greg Hill is the company’s chief people officer. By advocating for and supporting the development of Exos team members, he leads people operations, talent acquisition, and culture development. Exos’s culture has been recognized as a certified Great Places to Work and Best Employer in Sports by Front Office Sports.  

His 30 years of experience includes leading people and workforce strategies for Equinox, SoulCycle, Starwood (Sheraton, St Regis, W Hotels, Westin) and Hyatt Hotels. He is the former chairman of the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Labor Council and has a B.S. in Human Resources from Niagara University.

Liz Austin
Chief Marketing Officer

Liz Austin joined Exos in 2022 as chief marketing officer, bringing over 20 years of experience across global marketing, communications, strategy, operations, and digital transformation. Liz leads the company's marketing organization and is responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies that drive brand awareness, revenue growth, and member engagement.

Prior to joining Exos, Liz previously held a range of marketing leadership roles at LEAP Legal Software, McGraw-Hill Education, Reed Elsevier, Complinet, Wolters Kluwer, Thomson Reuters, and Wiley.

Bill Bourque
Chief Operations Officer

With Exos since 2014, Bill Bourque serves as the company’s chief operations officer. As COO he leads the development, evolution, and delivery of solutions to Exos clients, including facility design, operations, and business development.

He previously served as the president and COO of Medifit and vice president of operations for Fitcorp. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in exercise science and earned an MBA from Northeastern University.

Amanda Carlson-Phillips, MS, RD, CSSD
Chief Performance Innovation Officer

Amanda joined Exos in 2003 and now leads the Exos performance innovation team as chief innovation officer, tasked with bringing the most cutting-edge solutions to Exos clients and helping to pioneer the industry of human performance.

Amanda holds a master’s degree in both sports/clinical nutrition and exercise physiology. She has worked with professional and elite athletes, collegiate sports teams, military operators, and forward-thinking organizations to optimize their human performance systems. 

Amanda is a national speaker, has contributed to many sports and fitness-based publications, edited various sports nutrition books and educational texts, and now serves as an ambassador to the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association after serving on their Board of Directors for six years.

Jessica Reid
Chief Financial Officer

Jessica Reid joined Exos in 2023 as Chief Financial Officer, bringing over 20 years of experience as a senior financial executive with expertise in driving growth at both public and privately held technology and tech-enabled businesses. Throughout her career, Jessica has consistently demonstrated her ability to excel in financial management, process improvement, planning, and investment strategy, executing M&A transactions, and post-merger integration. She also brings deep corporate accounting and finance knowledge and audit experience.

Before Exos, Jessica held several senior leadership positions including VP, FP&A at Relativity and CFO at Reverb.com, as well as time with prestigious firms such as Goldman Sachs and Apollo Education Group. She holds a BA in Chemistry and an MBA from Harvard University.
