Why we did it

Like many organizations, we faced the challenge of employee burnout in the post pandemic era. We created the Readiness Culture Code to prove we could positively impact employee well-being while sustaining workplace effectiveness.

We worked with the pros.

Our pilot data was collected and analyzed  in partnership with Wharton School of Business.

“A key lesson is broader than the results themselves—it’s about the mindset that led to the results. Many leaders are reluctant to test new models of working; they’re afraid of giving up on the tried-and-true and setting precedents that might be difficult to uphold. Yet failing to explore different possibilities makes it impossible to innovate and change.”

“The accumulating evidence suggests that spending less time working doesn’t mean less work gets done. The future of work might involve more focused weeks—which are more enjoyable and equally productive.”

The results are real.

By fostering a culture that embraces strategic recovery, we saw that our employees felt better and worked more efficiently — but our business success was consistent. The shift to prioritized well-being led to employees that felt supported by our organization and wanted to stay with Exos.

“Now more than ever, corporations have the responsibility of rethinking how they’re getting employees ready to meet the ever-evolving workplace demands. The answer is employee readiness, and this data further solidifies the importance of cultivating and investing in a pro-recovery culture where employees are future-fit and ready to give their fullest each day.”
Sarah Robb O'Hagan
Chief Executive Officer, Exos
“I strongly feel that Exos should keep the four-day workweek. I noticed that people are more motivated, get more work done, and are happier which is probably because they are well rested!”
Exos Employee, Corporate
“The past six months have been the most rewarding period of my career. I have never felt any real loyalty towards a company until now.”
Exos Employee, Corporate
“The research helped us to examine the relationship between an individual's physiology and psychology, and their workplace performance. Simply put, when our individuals were given the opportunity to include strategic recovery in their day, they not only thrive in their personal lives, but also excel in our workplace.”
Greg Hill
Chief People Officer, Exos
“One aspect of this research that makes it unique from similar studies is that we leveraged manager appraisals in addition to the typical self-reported views of performance. It’s great that our employees feel better, but knowing managers saw consistent performance while recovery was prioritized is huge.”
Stefan Underwood
Senior Vice President, Methodology
